Storytimes

The youth services department at each branch offers a variety of weekly storytimes which feature stories, songs, and fingerplays. Different storytimes cater to children under 18 months up to 'Preschool Storytime' for ages 3-5. For more information about specific program details, contact the individual branch. Summer Reading Programs

During the summer, readers of all ages are encouraged to keep track of their reading to earn incentives from various sponsors. The Friends have supported the adult program in particular, contributing prizes including free used books and travel mugs.


"If I can read, I can do anything"

This is a national reading incentive program for Native American students attending school on the Reservation. The Chandler Public Library is the only public library in the country participating in the program which brings new books and library programming to the St. Peter Indian Mission School (K-8) on the Gila River Reservation. City Of Readers Educational Program

The Core program offers a wide range of adult and family literacy programs and services including one-to-one tutoring, adult education classes, English as a Second Language classes, and Homework Assistance Centers. For more information, visit their webpage.


Author Visits

Throughout the year, the Chandler Public Library invites speakers and authors to visit and talk about their books. Among recent authors are Dr. Jill Lekovic, Sam Barone, and Jim Trelease. Books For Babies

In cooperation with Friends of the Library USA, the Chandler Friends support this national program which encourages new and expectant parents to read to their babies. Locally, volunteers distribute Books for Babies bags at Chandler Regional Hospital's childbirth preparation classes and at free immunization clinics throughout the community.
