| Having trouble connecting to any of our catalog, internet
resources or online databases? Here are some troubleshooting tips
for our home users! |
|
Problem:
Direcway ISP users (There is a known problem with Direcway and being able to connect
to our Online Catalog from your home PC.)
OR
I can get to the website, but none of the Databases
OR
I can't get to the Logon screen for my account.
OR
I Bistro (The Library Online Catalog) is dropping my
search results.
Solution:
Here is the possible solution (for Internet Explorer version 6):
Click on: Tools / Internet Options / Connections / LAN Settings /
Proxy Server / Advanced / Exceptions
Then enter library.ci.chandler.az.us and lib.ci.chandler.az.us in
the box for exceptions. Click "OK" to save your settings.
If you do not use a proxy server, then you will not have the option
to enter the exception address, and this solution will not work for
you. |
|
Problem:
I can't access any of the Databases from home AND/OR work.
Solution:
Many homes and workplaces now employ the use of a
"Firewall". If you are unable to connect to our
databases that are available through the website, you need to have
port 2048 unblocked at the firewall, otherwise you will not be able to
reach the login page to enter your library card number and pin.
At work, you will need to contact your System Administrator to have
this done. At home, you will need to look at your firewalls
settings and determine where you can change this setting. Every
personal firewall is different, so going to the manufacturer's website
is often helpful.
