Maybe in Another Life is my favorite book so far this summer! Hannah Martin isn't sure what she wants to do with her life. One night while out with some friends, she's faced with a choice about whether to get a ride home with her roommate, or stay later and catch a ride with an old boyfriend.
So many times when I read a book and the main character has had to make a choice, I will think about what they didn't choose for many days after reading the book. I feel that this book fully explored both full stories of Hannah's life based on which choice she made.
This could have been a very trite book, neatly tied in a bow, but we really saw consequences of Hannah's choice. It was not a simple, black & white, good/bad story. We saw her develop in different ways, based on which choice she made and how her life moved forward. There are many people who say that we control our own destiny. I suppose we do, up to a point. But there are some things we can't control and we have to let the universe do its thing. - Rosanna (Downtown)
