Taylor Jenkins Reid’s last novel, Maybe In Another Life, was one of my favorite books of last year. Her new book, One True Loves, does not disappoint in making the reader examine the choices we make at the present time in our lives. Oh Taylor Jenkins Reid, how you love to write about choices in life!
This is a plot driven story of Emma, a young woman wanting to leave her calm, safe surroundings to experience the world and travel. The story shifts between her past and the present. There are bittersweet moments as Emma must deal with intense circumstances, and just when she thinks she can move on, she is forced into having to make a difficult choice.
While I would never want to be in the same position as Emma, I found her to be very likeable, relatable, and believable. As she grew as a person, the story intensified, not only with the choice she was faced with, but also with her self-discovery. - Rosanna (Downtown)
