Gilmore Girls fans have something extra to be grateful for this Thanksgiving. The popular series, which ended in 2007, is about to be rebooted, with four new episodes coming to Netflix on November 25. Devoted fans have burning questions: are Luke and Lorelei happy? Is Emily still hiring and firing maids after Richard’s death? Will Rory end up with one of her old flames (#teamjess)?
Though we can’t know all the answers yet, we can bet there will be plenty of current references to pop culture, music, and literature from the fast talking and quick witted Gilmores. Rory Gilmore’s extreme passion for reading has inspired fans to create meticulous booklists and hit the stacks for the 339 books referenced in the show. It seems that in the case of Rory Gilmore, where she reads, we will follow!
Here’s a list of six books that we think Rory Gilmore would have read and liked in 2016.
The Girls by Emma Cline
Modern Lovers by Emma Straub
The Association of Small Bombs by Karan Mahajan
Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler
Lab Girl by Hope Jahren
All the Single Ladies by Rebecca Traister
