In every household where parents are busy growing a reader or two, there are many milestones. If you’re one of these parents, the many fun, fabulous, literary milestones can keep you on your toes. There’s the exciting move from board books to picture books and, of course, the big step-up from picture books to readers. When your child has conquered 1st and 2nd grade readers, it’s time to transition to chapter books.
For many kiddos this transition happens around 3rd grade but every reader is different and will reach this milestone in his or her own time. When your child is ready for the transition, it can be a little overwhelming with so many titles to choose from. So, to all you parents of ravenous readers - never fear; the library is here! The following are just a few suggestions, perfect for helping your child make a smooth transition to chapter books.
A to Z Mysteries by Ron Roy
Mercy Watson by Kate Dicamillo
Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Osborne
