On Saturday, April 22, 2017, the Chandler Public Library is holding its 7th annual LibCon celebration for teenage fans of comic books, manga, anime, cosplay, and all other types of fandom! The gathering of pop culture fans ages 12-18 runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club Compadre Branch, 300 E. Chandler Blvd. LibCon is free and there will be no registration for teens this year. Check out more information at chandlerlibrary.org/libcon.
LibCon 2017 is back with all your favorite panels from years past, but we’re adding some new stuff to keep things fresh! We’re super excited to host our first ever Anime Dating Game. Participants are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite cosplay and partake as our bachelors / bachelorettes! Maybe you’re not feeling some of the panels, no worries – we got you. There will be a dedicated gaming room for all you gamers out there and even a designated hangout space away from all of the madness.
To top everything off we will be welcoming YA author Tom Leveen to share his thoughts on life, comic books and how he got started as an author. We’re super hyped to welcome all of our local teens to LibCon 2017 this year. We will cap off the day with a cosplay fashion show, so make sure you dress up as your favorite character. It should be a fun day in a safe environment for all!
