CPL staff love Young Jane Young. This saga of a young woman trying to put her life back together after getting involved in a political scandal is a LibraryReads pick for August. Here’s what two staff members had to say.
Rosanna: I think this book will appeal to fans of the Gilmore Girls and the current TV show, Younger. Sometimes we don't make the right choices when we're young and how long do we have to pay for these choices? Especially in this age of social media? I really enjoyed this book (with the exception of that bird - I just didn't get that), the characters, and the way the story was presented. I really like the way Ruby told her story. I have seen that technique used before, but I thought it was exceptionally fitting in this story.
Marybeth: Enjoyed this one. It's got heart, humor, scandal, coming to terms with bad choices, and political zingers! I liked the use of the different voices for each section - kept it interesting. There were a few things that gave me pause (like El Mete and the Choose Your Own Adventure format) but I'll overlook them for overall enjoyment of the story.
