The Summer Wives is a solid 3.5 stars and a good summer read. We start with Miranda Schuyler at the age of 18, arriving at an elite vacation spot as her widowed mother marries the wealthy Hugh Fisher. Miranda doesn’t fit in with the high society, and falls in love with Joseph, a local fisherman’s son. Then tragedy strikes and Miranda finds herself caught up in it as Joseph pleads guilty to the mysterious death of her stepfather. Decades later, she’s back to uncover the truth.
For the most part, I really enjoy Beatriz Williams books. She paints such wonderful, vivid images while telling a story. There are some confusing moments at the start of The Summer Wives, but once I got further into the book, then things started rolling - all the intrigue, deceit and mystery! This is what I was looking forward to. I do recommend this book, and look forward to reading more about Miranda, and possibly Hugh. - Rosanna (Admin)
