September is Library Card Sign-Up Month. The campaign first started in 1987 as a response to Secretary of Education William Bennett’s statement: “Let’s have a campaign… Every child should obtain a library card and use it.” Learn more at the American Library Association Archives and I Love Libraries.
What can your library do for you? The Chandler Public Library offers a world of resources for our community, both in the library and outside. Visit one of our four locations to check out books, DVDs, magazines and other materials, to use our public computers and other technology resources or to attend one of our many programs for children, teens and adults. Or visit your library online with our ebooks, research resources, streaming video, music downloads and more. Soon we’ll be launching our eCard program, to allow anyone in Maricopa County to get a library card online and use these resources from the comfort of their own home!
Check out what community members are saying about the library:
I have always loved to read. To me, a library was a wondrous adventure full of amazing sections of information and entertainment. A book in my hands or close by is very much a part of my life. - Karen M.
Our local libraries and library programs have enriched the lives of our children. Access to online databases and courses accelerated their learning while programs provided a sense of community as well as connection. My children are college bound thanks in no small part to the library system and the dedicated workers who keep things running smoothly. - Charlene H.
I have picked up a few languages and wanted a way to keep up with them. Chandler Public Library offers the language program Mango, which helps so much. I am able to keep up on my Japanese and have the option of adding a new language to my skillset as well! - Tayler W.
