In the digital age of social media it may seem that the art of storytelling has been reduced to perfectly captioned photos and hashtags. But local opportunities for listening to and sharing stories are growing, and this summer Chandler Public Library will provide opportunities for our community to participate in this craft.
Your Chandler Libraries have partnered with KJZZ’s mobile recording studio, Soundbite, for our Summer Reading Challenge. The Soundbite experience includes both a performance stage and recording studio. As crowds gather they will be entertained by performers, while in the recording booth a sound engineer and interviewer will capture stories from our community. Topics discussed will include what participants love about the library and enjoy about living in Chandler. These stories will be archived and shared to promote our collective experiences and local pride.
Visit the Soundbite Truck at these dates and times:
Hamilton - Saturday, June 1, 8:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Sunset - Wednesday, June 5, 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Downtown - Saturday, June 8, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Looking for more storytelling opportunities? Everafter Storytellers, a team of professional storytellers trained at South Mountain Community College, will introduce the basic principles of storytelling. Join us at the Downtown Chandler Library on Saturday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. for A Universe of Stories: Which One is Yours? The program includes a mini-workshop that introduces participants to universal storytelling themes and to the basic foundations of effective storytelling. Being a skilled storyteller is a tool that can enhance interpersonal relationships between co-workers, friends and family members.
We all search for a sense of belonging and community; this summer visit Chandler Public Library to see how A Universe of Stories connects us all.
