While many are aware of Oskar Schindler’s heroic efforts because of director Steven Spielberg's 1993 film Schindler's List, few know of the brave risks taken by Frans and Mien Wijnakker to help save the lives of Jews in Holland during the Holocaust.
Author Marty Brounstein will present his book "Two Among the Righteous Few: A Story of Courage in the Holocaust" at the Downtown Chandler Library on Sunday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m. He brings a true interfaith story of courage, compassion and rescue about a valiant couple in the Netherlands who, despite much risk and danger, saved the lives of over two dozen Jews during World War II. Marty also has a meaningful personal connection to this story and its heroes, which he reveals in his engaging storytelling presentation.
Marty is an author, speaker and management consultant based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Marty has also been a human resources executive, and started his career as an educator with an emphasis on teaching history, including the Holocaust. Brounstein is the author of eight other books, including three titles in the "For Dummies" series. His speaking tour is now into its 9th year with over 725 events so far.
This program is made possible by a partnership between Chandler Public Library, City of Chandler Diversity Office and the Center for Holocaust Education and Human Dignity of the East Valley Jewish Community Center (EVJCC).
