Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
This is a LGBTQ romance novel. Simon is a teen boy who tries to navigate high school along with his sexual orientation. The story starts out with Simon seeing a post on Creek secrets (a social media site based around Creekwoods drama) about a boy who thinks he is gay. This interests Simon because he also thinks he might be gay. They start messaging one another and Simon realizes that he might be falling for him. Simon has now made it his mission to figure out who this mystery man really is.
This was the first LGBTQ teen romance book I have ever read and I really loved it. As a person who's part of the LGBTQ community, it made me very happy to see a romance that I could relate to. The author has a fantastic writing style, which made it very easy to read and get excited about each chapter. Overall, the characters were lovable and I would love for everyone to give this book a try. Recommended for people who are part of the LGBTQ community or support the community and for those who like modern love stories.
