I’ve read a few Jodi Picoult books before and enjoyed them. I also love a good parallel/alternative universe storyline, so I thought I’d give The Book of Two Ways a try. Dawn Edelstein survives a plane crash and after being medically cleared to leave, the airline provides free tickets to anywhere in the world. Does Dawn go home or to another destination? Here is where the parallels begin.
When she was younger, Dawn was a graduate student on a dig in Egypt. Because of life’s circumstances, she later became a “death doula.” Both Egyptology and death play a huge part in this book. Unfortunately there so many details about Egyptology in this story and it weighed it down so much. Between that and some confusion on the timelines, I felt like it took away from the real story. Still, while I was looking for a lighter read, I enjoyed the story. - Rosanna (Admin)
