Share Your Love of Reading with Friends
Joining a book group is a fantastic way to connect with new people from all walks of life. It’s a chance to take time out of your busy day to relax and socialize. You can create long lasting friendships and bond over your love (or dislike) of a book. Books often provide a special way for people to relate and share experiences. Consider the camaraderie you feel when you discover another person likes the same sports team or enjoys the same television show as you do! Gatherings like a book group can create the same sense of belonging.
Broaden Your Bookshelf & Worldview
Like many readers, you may prefer one genre over others. For example, you might love to read literary classics and would never think a science fiction book could interest you. Book groups are a wonderful way to introduce you to new authors and genres that you wouldn’t usually choose yourself. Book groups also create an environment that fosters healthy dialog with other readers who may have differing opinions or who are curious about new subjects. As you listen to others discuss opinions, plot points, characters and settings you’re more likely to gain a fresh new perspective of the book and the larger world. At the end of each meeting you will come away with many new book recommendations from your group members, allowing you to explore new topics or discover a gem in your preferred genre.
Explore Your Community
Lastly, books groups are a way to break up your routine and try something new. If you want to try new experiences, you can always explore book groups that meet at a location you have wanted to explore but haven’t had the opportunity.
