High Five keeps parents and children coming back to Chandler Public Libraries, in person or not! High Five is an early literacy promotion that introduces five key concepts: Talk, Sing, Read, Write and Play. But there's more to say about early literacy! Read on for more tips about how the library's online resources can help you raise a reader.
Raising a reader in the techy age can be challenging as you compete with the mesmerizing images and sounds of videos and apps targeting children. But screen time can actually be cuddle-up-and-read time when you access all the amazing digital resources that are available to you as a member of the Chandler Public Library.
Did you know that the library has digital magazines for you to enjoy with your child? Download the Flipster app to your device or desktop and log in with your library card number and pin. Chandler Public Library currently provides access to Highlights, National Geographic Kids and Sports Illustrated Kids magazines.
Your Chandler Library card also gives you free access to CloudLibrary where you can download thousands of children’s ebooks. Featuring newer selections like The Cool Bean and The Couch Potato by Jory John as well classics like Winnie-the-Pooh.
For those times when you need to be hands free, download an eaudiobook from CloudLibrary to add a little literature to car rides, lunch prep or bath time.
In the evening you could grab some blankets and make a family reading fort. Climb inside with a few ebooks or eaudiobooks from CloudLibrary or a magazine from Flipster and you won’t even need a flashlight.
However you choose to use them, the library’s digital resources are always available, even when the library is closed – all you need is your library card and PIN. Have fun!
